Jerry combines an extensive background as a theatrical performer, director, producer, writer, and designer with more than 20 years’ experience in business communications and consulting to help organizations and people generate creative and practical solutions to meeting their goals.
As a partner at Kenning Associates, he helps clients build skills in communications and other leadership disciplines through coaching and other types of learning programs. He also consults and lends expert assistance on a range of challenges that involve developing people and/or delivering world-class communication end products. Jerry is sought out for his expertise in visual communication and the use of PowerPoint, as well as for the delivery of presentations; conducting live interactions of all types; and developing a confident, authentic presence. As a coach, he helps clients unlock new potential by increasing their self awareness as well as their appreciation for others’ differences. He has served Fortune 500, leading tech, emerging/start-up, private equity, and major consulting and professional services firms.
Before joining Kenning, Jerry was the president of Jerome Stauduhar Communications, a business communications consultancy. He served companies and professional services firms of all sizes on a wide range of issues, including: designing presentation templates and standards, managing internal communication and leadership development projects, developing and designing strategic communications to and from the C-suite, and facilitating countless skill-building sessions – from executive retreats to group workshops and one-and-one coaching.
From 1992 through 2002, Jerry held a number of communication roles at McKinsey & Company in Chicago and later San Francisco. Throughout his tenure, he helped McKinsey consultants and clients prepare communication end products in all media, while also building their communication and problem solving skills through coaching and training. Among other highlights, Jerry was the co-creator of “Presenting With Impact,” a collaborative presentation skills workshop for consultants that was adopted by McKinsey offices around the world. He was also the co-editor of several reports published by the McKinsey Global Institute and a contributor to numerous firm-wide communication initiatives and training programs.
Prior to McKinsey, his primary vocation was in theater. He worked in a variety of capacities with many Chicago Off-Loop troupes and also co-founded an acclaimed theater company, Cloud 42. As its associate artistic director, he filled a range of on- and off-stage roles for over a dozen productions. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the Northwestern University School of Communications.
A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Jerry currently resides with his partner and dog in Los Angeles, where he enjoys culinary endeavors, the arts, and the weather.
