The Challenge
A major consulting firm realized its senior managers were struggling with the complexity of their roles, and they were not creating the networks they needed to have impact at scale as their responsibilities expanded. The firm turned to Kenning to help create a bespoke learning arc for colleagues moving into this tenure band that would help accelerate their learning and growth.
How Kenning Helped
Kenning worked with key stakeholders across the firm to design and deliver a multi-week leadership development program focused on increasing impact and ownership for senior managers. The program emphasized developing an adaptive approach to complexity: increasing self-awareness, leading through uncertainty, and building collaborative relationships with others, all in service of delivering meaningful results for the firm.
Using a mix of large- and small-group sessions, the learning program allowed learners to absorb concepts in sequence, with time to bring each concept back to their roles and apply it in their day-to-day work before layering on additional skills and mindsets.
The Results
To date, hundreds of people have participated in this program across dozens of cohorts, with high ratings and outcomes. Participants have shared feedback on the applicability of the tools in their day-to-day work: “The tools have already proven extremely valuable in both minor and more complex situations where I felt stuck. They have become a part of my mental ‘Problem Solving Toolkit’ both professionally and personally.”
In addition to impact on the individual learners, the program has had downstream impacts, with former participants infusing the mindsets and approaches into their work and the culture of the firm.
